About

Hi! My name is Joyce, and I am a Campus Staff Member with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I’ll be posting updates on ministry at Case Western Reserve University with Koinonia, an InterVarsity chapter whose corporate mission is to reach Asian Americans and beyond on campus.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a national student movement that seeks to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world-changers developed.

About Me

Born in America as the daughter of loving immigrants. I am a second generation Taiwanese American. My parents grew up in Taiwan, and now live in the U.S. I love them, my brother, and my family’s dog very dearly! I also love being Asian American and contributing to the culture as a staffworker.

Re-born in upstate New York as a daughter of God. Yes, I’m from Upstate NY, hailing from Rochester, NY, land of the famed “garbage plate” and fancy grocery stores. I would consider my upbringing to be fairly Midwestern. I grew up in the church, Rochester Chinese Christian Church, which I consider to be my home church and the church in which I became a Christian.

Reformed in Ann Arbor as a follower of Jesus. Haha, kind of a lame attempt at a play on words. My time at the University of Michigan was one of the most transformative periods of my life. I learned to integrate faith and studies as a Sociology major, justice and prayer as an active member in the Asian American community, and leadership and service as a leader in a chapter of the IV student movement there, Asian InterVarsity.

Because of my experience there, I truly believe that the university is a place where God works and redeems people and structures for the Kingdom. I attended and loved my church there, Knox Presbyterian Church, a multi-ethnic Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Renewed in Cleveland as a staffworker for IV. Here I am! I can say that I have been challenged and stretched in my discipleship in so many good, deepening ways. I have to say that I’ve enjoyed myself here in Cleveland through meeting people from different church traditions and working with the Asian Americans here.

And… dare I say it? I think Cleveland has better food than Ann Arbor! :O
